Board Goals

The Board of Trustees of Foothills Unitarian Church has four main responsibilities:

1. To articulate our mission, vision, and values

2. To govern through policy

3. To monitor those policies to ensure compliance

4. To link with all of our sources of accountability and authority

ARTICULATION AND LINKAGE

• To develop a new vision (in partnership with the ministry and the entire congregation) that will propel us into the next seven years.

• To make this vision bold and inspirational so that it positively impacts all of our sources of accountability and authority.

• To communicate this vision in multiple ways so that members, future members, and the wider community see themselves in it.

GOVERNANCE THROUGH POLICY AND MONITORING

• To regularly review our policy to ensure that it is up to date, relevant, and meets the challenges of our times.

• To develop a streamlined and effective monitoring structure that fulfills our fiduciary responsibilities.

• To develop a solid Board succession plan and present this planned change in By-Laws to the congregation.
