In-Kind Donations

1. Purpose
This guidance clarifies Foothills’ approach to receiving non-monetary contributions, ensuring that in-kind donations align with our mission and operational needs. It supports our values of stewardship, collaboration, and resourcefulness while maintaining clarity in donor engagement and asset acceptance.

2. Organizational Guidance

  • Solicited In-Kind Gifts

    • Foothills encourages in-kind donations that have been solicited or pre-approved based on identified needs.

  • Alignment Review

    • The Finance Executive must evaluate non-standard or high-value gifts for:

      • Alignment with Foothills’ mission, values, and space constraints

      • Ongoing maintenance or storage requirements

      • Legal or safety considerations

  • Acceptance and Documentation

    • Donors must receive written confirmation for accepted in-kind contributions when requested.

    • All accepted in-kind gifts should be documented and valued per accounting standards, if applicable.
